		<description>Ironically, I only discovered Barsoom a few years ago. I guess I always somehow knew about it, but only read it after finding it on Project Gutenberg. Love at first sight. While Burroughs didn&#039;t do such a good job at world-building he had a great sense for epic adventures and, well, canals on Mars are just so cool. 
 
The whole trademarks thing is quite unfortunate. I would have loved to simply give Barsoom a makeover, but I&#039;ll have to look at it as an opportunity, not as a problem. A rose by any other name... </description>

		<description>I must say that John Carter has been a favorite. (Tarzan being my absolute first hero -- after my dad, of course). It is refreshing &amp; delightful to find someone else who even knows who he is. One of my first (and very juvenile) stories that I wrote as a youngster revolved around a quite similar hero in a quite similar situation. </description>
